Undergraduate Advising Handbook

New and Old Curriculum

The Chemical Engineering Program has introduced a number of revisions that are in effect for all students who started at Penn State in Summer 2015 or later. We have nicknamed these revisions as the “New Curriculum.” Students who started at Penn State before Summer 2015 are under the rules of the previous program, which we have nicknamed Old Curriculum.”

For the next few years, the two curricula will coexist until all students of the Old Curriculum have graduated. During this period of coexistence it is very important that you understand clearly which of the two curricula applies to you. The distinction is based on your first semester at Penn State, not on the semester that you were admitted to the major. If you are unclear about which curriculum applies to you, please see your adviser.
